Al igual que en otros puntos de nuestra ruta, hay que enmarcar la presencia de judíos en tiempos muy remotos en la Península ibérica. Si éstos llegaron con expediciones fenicias navegando por el Mediterráneo, algunas de las embarcaciones remontaron el Guadalquivir entrando así en contacto con pueblos ibero-turdetanos existentes.

Cuando en época romana se funda la ciudad de Corduva cerca de asentamientos ibero-turdetanos, posiblemente ya encontrarían presencia de judíos en el lugar.
Éstos gozaron de ciertos privilegios importantes desde la romanización, como verse liberados de ciertos deberes contrarios a su fe. Esta situación de armonía y tranquilidad discurre hasta la llegada de los visigodos.

When in Roman times was founded the Corduva city near turtedanos settlement, possibly there would be already the presence of Jews in the place.

A partir de ahí y como hemos tocado en otros puntos de este viaje, las cosas empiezan a cambiar. A pesar de que en el siglo VII se promulga el Concilio de Toledo donde, por expresa intervención de San Isidoro de Sevilla se prohibió tomar medidas de opresión para forzar la conversión de la población judía, no es de extrañar que fuese en alguna medida, un alivio la llegada en el año 711 de la llamada invasión musulmana.

In what was the last Jewish quarter of Cordoba still can visit their synagogue and very few steps away, entering the narrow street of whitewashed houses, get us a place that offers an open door to everyone who wants to approach the Jewish culture of the old Sefarad.
La Casa de Sefarad nos adentra a través de sus salas, en el mundo hebraico, costumbres, tradiciones, canciones, símbolos de fe y de la vida cotidiana. Todo se da la mano de manera que, a pesar de no encontrar más vestigios tangibles nos permite conocer la importancia de un núcleo judaico durante un importante y extenso período histórico de toda la Península y concretamente de esta joya que es la ciudad de Córdoba.

The Casa de Sefarad takes us through its rooms, in the Jewish world, customs, traditions, songs, symbols of faith and everyday life. Everything is given the hand so, that despite not finding more tangible vestiges it allows us to know the importance of a Jewish core during an extensive and important historical period all around in the Peninsula and specifically this jewel that is the city of Córdoba.
